Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

by Booch Buds

1. What is Kombucha?

Kombucha is a fermented, lightly effervescent, sweetened black tea (or green tea) that is often consumed for its probiotic health benefits. Brewed and fermented with what's known as a S.C.O.B.Y, this process often takes up to a week or two in multiple fermentation periods. Depending on the added flavours, its profile can be fruity, floral or even spicy.

2. Can Kombucha be kept forever?

When kept refrigerated and unopened, the kombucha can last up to 1-2 months. That said, the fermentation process will continue on in the bottle and the flavour will become more tart-tasting (vinegar-like). To taste the best booch buds experience, we recommend to keep your kombucha refrigerated and consume within 2 weeks of the brew date.

3. Why's there a floating gunk residue?

These jelly-like substances are condensed forms of the probiotic cultures in our kombucha caused by the continued fermentation in the bottles. The presence of these gunk residues is an indication of a healthy kombucha brew (the real deal full of probiotics) and they are safe to be consumed.

4. How to taste the best Booch Buds experience?

  •  Always keep your kombucha refrigerated to maintain its taste and health profile as a probiotic.
  •  Consume within 2 weeks of the brew date. note that flavour profile might change and turn more tart-like after a week.
  • Do not:
    • Leave the bottles unrefrigerated
    • Shake it unnecessarily
    • Store it on its side

(Otherwise you might get a FIZZY explosive mess on your hands when you open it.)

  • For online orders, chill your kombucha in the fridge first upon collection (before opening).
  • If need be, open it over a sink slowly to release the pressure. have a cup/bowl handy to catch any spill-overs so you won’t waste any of that precious kombucha.
